Bathroom Pendant Lighting and Chandeliers

Bathroom Pendant Lighting and Chandeliers

Hanging lights such as pendants and chandeliers are a great way to add your personality to a space and provide an elegant and luxurious atmosphere in bathrooms.

Due to their decorative nature, bathroom pendant lights and chandeliers should be used as part of a combined lighting plan, which includes recessed downlights or ceiling lights, wall lights and natural lighting.

Hanging pendant lights over a bathroom vanity offer a unique and decorative statement, freeing up walls to hang mirrors or cabinets.

To have accurate colouring on your face - especially for make up application - coloured glass is not ideal for pendant vanity lights.

What height should you hang pendants over a sink?

The style of pendant and material of the shade will influence the hanging height. For glass or naked bulb pendants, a general guide is to position them around eye level to eliminate shadows on the face. Pendant lights with metal shades should be hung a bit higher as this style of pendant disperses light downwards.

Chandeliers and pendants over the bath create an elegant statement and provide ambient lighting. Due to the damp nature of bathrooms, consider the materials you choose for the pendant, natural materials such as wood or rattan should be sealed with a clear coat to prolong life.

It is important to speak with your electrician prior to purchasing a pendant light or chandelier intended for installation over your bath. Most pendants are able to be converted to 12v for installation over water, however please contact our sales team to confirm if you this will be possible.

To prolong the life of your lighting in this humid area, it is important to have IP rated light fixtures in the bathroom.
