General Maintenance

On the Lighting Collective website you will find product pricing on each product listing. Some fittings will be marked with a POA, if this is the case please contact us via phone or email and we can send through the cost per item. Usually the items marked POA have many components which can be customizable and require accurate pricing.

Our showroom is located at 1/80 Centennial Circuit, Bundjalung Country Byron Bay, NSW, 2481.

  • What are your trading hours?

    Customer Service Trading Hours: Monday - Friday: 10:00am - 4:00pm AEDT

  • Is your showroom open to the public?

    Yes it is! However we do recommend making an appointment so that we can have one of our consultants available to assist you. If you are happy browsing and realise that you might wish to make an appointment we can always create one instore.


    We have x2 dedicated car parks for visitors however if they are occupied when you arrive there is free street parking that is accessible.

    Currently our showroom is not open on the weekend and public holidays as we know our staff deserve a little TLC however our website is available 24/7.

  • Are all items on your website on display in the showroom?

    Unfortunately no. Due to the vast collection and size of some items it is not possible to display each item in our showroom as we simply do not have the room.

  • How can I view an item which you don’t have on display?

    Most of our fittings will have a video attached to their product listing. This video will give a better insight to size, scale, finish, with the motions of movement from each fitting as well as close ups of details and finish in more depth. If there is a product that you are interested in which does not have a video listed, please get in touch for further information.

  • Do you have a virtual showroom?

    Currently we are in the middle of updating our showroom which is expected to be completed by early  2022. During this fitout, we will have a virtual showroom experience in the works.

  • Do you offer trade pricing?

    We have recently launched our new Trade website, you will need to create a log in and explore our new trade website here.

We are predominantly an ecommerce lighting store. All of our products can be purchased online. Our qualified customer service team are here to help you every step of the way.

  • I would like to place and order how do I check lead times?

    All of our standard lead times can be found on product listing. If an item has been placed on back order this will also be noted on the listing.

  • Can I get my items quicker than the standard lead time?

    Some of our products do have the option for express freight however this is case by case and will come at an additional charge. If you require express shipping please get in touch.

  • I have placed and order and the product has gone out of stock, what do I do?

    If you have placed an online order and the item has since gone out of stock our friendly Customer service team will get in touch to notify you of the new lead time. If this lead time does not work within your timeframe we will help find an alternative fitting to suit. Alternatively if you do not like any of the alternatives we will honour a full refund.

  • I was on your website a week ago and now I can't seem to find the product I was looking at?

    If you can't find what you are looking for please get in touch with our CS team with a detailed description of the item you are looking for and we will be able to either find it on our website or advise why it may be removed. From time to time this can be put out of stock for long periods of time in which case we will remove the item from our website.

  • I have seen a light in a magazine. Can you source more than what you have listed on your website?

    We only have about 60% of what we can source listed on our website as we curate our collection however if you have seen something that you love and are having trouble sourcing the item get in touch with our team and we will be able to look into it further.

You should remove dust from your fittings on a regular basis, this will help prolong the life of the fitting and protect the finish. Clean with a soft dry cloth or duster. If the fitting requires further attention, moisten the cloth with fresh water and wipe down. Make sure to dry the fitting thoroughly with a separate cloth to remove any water spots and to enhance the shine. Some metals will require a more specific cleaning to bring back the original appearance, these are listed below.

  • Exterior

    All exterior fittings require general maintenance every six months to prolong the life of the fitting. This also protects the fitting from external elements such as dirt, carbon, acidic droppings, vegetation, atmospheric elements etc.

    All interior recommendations apply for external use however, depending on location, you may need to use the specific cleaners suggested, rather than just water.

    Coastal & Extreme Weather

    If you are located in a coastal area or the fitting is susceptible to extreme weather conditions such as acid rain or industrial pollutants in the air from factories, we recommend that you follow the same care instructions as noted above for the material type however, these will need to be maintained multiple times per year or as needed depending on the exposure and the fitting itself.

    Landscape Lighting

    Follow the principals as per the recommended cleaning care for the particular material. It is important to make sure that any fittings which may be exposed to or come into contact with any chemicals for lawn care, decking or motor vehicles are washed down regularly. These chemicals can damage the fitting and reduce its lifespan.

    Exterior Metals

    In normal settings and environments if your fitting is graded to be used externally it should be protected and resistant to external elements however, they still require general maintenance and cleaning.

    We recommend washing down the external fittings with warm soapy water to remove all surface deposits and residue.

    Exterior Concrete

    We recommend washing down the external fittings with warm soapy water to remove all surface deposits and residue. DO NOT use a pressure cleaner.

  • Organic & Natural

    If you are unsure on the maintenance to prolong the life of your light, please contact us at info@lightingcollective.com.au or read the FAQ's below for each natural material.

    For painted products; clean with a soft dry cloth. If particularly dirty, you can moisten the cloth using fresh water. Remember to dry thoroughly using a separate soft cloth to avoid water spotting.

    Rattan, Wicker & Cane

    Many of our natural rattan, cane and wicker fittings are hand made with intricate wrapping and binding techniques. Because of this they can have many hard to reach nooks and crannies that can collect dust and dirt.

    We recommend dusting once a week or vacuuming with an upholstery brush to remove any hard to reach dust.

    Fabric

    Avoid placing fabric fittings in an area that is susceptible to moisture or mildew to prolong the life of your fittings. Prolonged sun exposure may affect the material over time.

    You should remove any dust with a fine brush or lint remover. If there are any marks that need further cleaning, use a soft cloth which is slightly moist with fresh water and either dab or gentle wipe with the grain to remove.DO NOT fully submerge fittings in water to clean or use harsh chemicals or detergents.

    Cotton & Linen

    We recommend removing any dust with a fine brush, duster or lint remover. If further cleaning is needed, wipe with a damp cloth. If the material loses shape, you may use a handheld steamer to soften the material and mould the fitting back into its original shape.

    Wood

    Clean with a soft dry cloth or duster. If the fitting requires further attention, moisten the cloth with fresh water and wipe down. Make sure to dry the fitting thoroughly with a separate cloth to remove any water spots.

  • Porous Material

    Bare plaster and ceramic are a porous material; therefore, it is important avoid using water or liquids to clean to retain the look of the fitting.

    Plaster & Ceramic

    If the plaster has been painted, you can use a damp cloth to clean. Dust can be removed with a soft dry cloth or a soft bristle brush. Dirty marks on bare plaster or ceramics should be removed by carefully rubbing, using a “smoke sponge’’ or similar made from Vulcanized rubber.

    Porcelain

    Dust fittings when required. Small marks on the raw porcelain can be removed with a clean cloth and soap or crème cleanser.

    Concrete

    Very minimal cleaning is required with interior concrete fittings however if needed:

    We recommend washing concrete with a solution of detergent, diluted in warm water to remove surface deposits, every couple of months. Rinse with fresh clean water and dry with a soft clean cloth.

  • Metals

    Brass & Bronze

    Over time brass will start to age from atmospheric elements, even when used in interior settings.

    We recommend rinsing with a fresh water and a cloth every few months to reduce the ageing process. If the brass has aged and started to darken in colour, use brasso cleaner to restore the natural finish.

    Aluminium

    Aluminium should be cleaned with a damp cloth only, excluding any type of solvents or detergents. You should avoid all contact with fertilisers, chlorinated water and other chemicals as this can cause corrosion of the fitting.

    Stainless Steel

    We recommend washing this product with a solution of detergent, diluted in warm water to remove surface deposits, every couple of months. Rinse with fresh clean water and dry with a soft clean cloth. If you require further cleaning, you can use a stainless-steel cleaner wipe or cream paired with a non-abrasive cloth.

    Chrome

    It is important to dust chrome regularly. Dust build up can give the illusion of rust if not maintained.

    We recommend wiping chrome fittings with warm soapy water, using a non-abrasive sponge or cloth. If the dust is hard to remove, use a soft bristled brush. It is important to make sure you dry the fitting thoroughly after cleaning to prevent water marks.

  • Back-Order

    When you place an order under ‘back order’, your product is not currently available to ship, but is expected to become available soon. This means that when ordering a product that is currently on back order, you can secure the product, that will be shipped when the product is restocked. We will do our best to specify the estimated restocked lead time on the listing, however this is subject to change, and the estimated lead time are not guaranteed. Once you have placed your back order we cannot cancel or refund for 'change of mind' or 'wrong decision' as in align with our general returns policy.

  • Pre-Order

    When you place an order under 'pre-order', your product may have a manufacturing delay and/or an unknown lead time. This means that when ordering an item that is currently on pre-order, you can secure the product and your order will be shipped at a later date as soon the manufacturing delay is resolved, or the lead time is confirmed. Thus, once you have placed your pre-order we cannot cancel or refund for 'change of mind' or 'wrong decision' as in align with our general returns policy

  • Lead-Time

    Our lead times are an estimate amount of time provided by the Artisans and Designers we work with to enable us to understand the total accumulative time it takes for the product to be made, assembled and shipped to you. As our collection has been curated from Artisans and Designers from both Australia and around the world, the lead times of our collection vary from product to product. Each product specifies a standard lead time
    Please note we treat every order with a matter of urgency, and we will do everything possible to ensure your order is delivered within the standard lead time however, these lead times are subject to change and are provided as a guide.
