Wall Sconce

A wall sconce is a light fixture that mounts directly to a wall, providing ambient, task, or accent lighting without requiring floor or table space. Wall sconces can be hardwired into your home's electrical system or plug-in, depending on the model.

The terms wall sconce and wall light are used interchangeably in Australian interiors. Traditionally, a 'sconce' referred to a decorative fixture with an upward-facing cup or shade, but today both terms describe any wall-mounted lighting fixture.

For general use, install your wall sconce so the centre of the shade sits approximately 150–165 cm from the floor. For bedside wall lights, position them 80–100 cm above the mattress surface for comfortable reading.
