Drawn from the structure of microscopic lifeforms, sponges, and star corals, the Hexacorallia Wall Sconce has a rich textural form. It balances sculpture and function in equal measure. Cast in ceramic and high-fired, the piece is available in three distinct finishes. Left bare, the porcelain diffuses a soft, ambient glow through its raw surface. Finished with a clear gloss glaze, the surface turns luminous, deepening the translucency of the clay body. Light diffuses with a softer, glassy quality. The Tenmoku finish introduces a rich, iron-bearing glaze characterised by deep, metallic dark chocolate and rust tones. It adds dramatic depth and earthy warmth. 

Mount it along a dining wall, in a powder room, or beside a reading nook. The sconce adds dimensional warmth and soft, organic texture, creating mood lighting.

  • Cast in ceramic, high-fired
  • Choose from three finishes: Bare Porcelain, Clear Gloss Glaze, or Tenmoku Iron Glaze

Milly Dent Studio - lighting inspired by the Australian coast

Milly Dent Studio makes handcrafted wall sconces rooted in the textures and forms of the Sydney coastline. Each piece begins with close observation of the natural world — coral structures seen under a microscope, the surface of a sea urchin shell — translated into sculptural porcelain forms that function as both lighting and art.

The studio spotlight covers:

  • The design process behind pieces like the Hexacorallia and Urchin sconces — from natural reference to ceramic and metal forms
  • A production built around casting, glazing and kiln-firing porcelain by hand
  • The appeal of wall sconces as functional sculpture — pieces that live on the wall, interact with light daily and hold their own as objects
