Alabaster Glass Up & Down Wall Sconce
The Alabaster Glass Up & Down Wall Sconce is a slim cylinder of Spanish alabaster held clear of the wall by a solid brass bracket. Light leaves the open ends of the cylinder to wash up the wall and down over it, and the stone body glows softly along its length where the banding runs thin.
Alabaster is quarried and cut rather than moulded, so each cylinder carries its own pattern of translucent veining and no two fittings are alike. The bracket, collar and backing plate are solid brass, held with stainless steel grub screws that clamp the stone without marking it. The brass is left uncoated, so it darkens and settles over time instead of holding a plated finish. The proportions suit entries and porches, a front door or garage surround, and covered alfresco walls where the glow of the stone sits close enough to be seen properly.
